John Burchmore

The Burchmore's moved to Telluride in 1997 .  Having arrived in Telluride after spending 10 years in Aspen, CO.  John is originally from Lake Forest, IL and Jill grew up in Aspen, CO.   John's preference of Telluride compared to other mountain resorts relates to it's remote location and staggering beauty.  "The impression of driving down Main Street with the towering peaks and authentic western charm, was a defining moment for our family."  With a background of sales, marketing and development,   John's background is diverse.

After graduating from Ripon College in WI, with a degree in Economics, John went to work with a leading commercial Real Estate Firm in Chicago, Fuller Commercial Brokerage.  From there he moved to Leelanau County, MI to the first of many resort destinations, working for DSI Resort Properties of Traverse City.  In Aspen, John was involved with the World Cup Ski Races and was Business Development Manager for the Snowmass Resort Association.

John has traveled extensively having climbed and skiied  the highest peaks in the western hemisphere, Mt. Aconcagua and Europe, Mt. Elbrus.  His passions for the outdoors in and around Telluride include fly fishing the Black Canyon, climbing 14er's, riding dirt bikes and playing with his family. 

John's experience in Telluride and Mountain Village is extensive, particularly in Mountain Village.  John served on the Mountain Village Town Council, was President of the Telluride Convention and Vistior Bureau, Directed the Marketing committee for Telluride and Mountain Village and currently serves on the Mountain Village Design Review Board.  John is active with local non profits working as board member on the Tellluride Society for Jazz and having served on Telluride Council for the Arts and Humanities .

John's wife Jilll has been involved in Real Estate for her entire career. Since graduating from Ft. Lewis College in Durango, she has worked for some of the most successful agents in Aspen and Telluride. Jill spent time in Aspen working with Snowmass Real Estate Company, B.J. Adams, and Carol Dopkin. When we moved to Telluride, Jill worked with Telluride Real Estate Corp., Mountain Vision Properties and became the Executive Director of the Telluride Association of Realtors in 2001.

She left the association March 2005 to spend more time with our boys, Jake (10) and Leland (9) . Jill is currently President of the Telluride Education Foundation Board and has her own business working with local companies assisting with their bookeeping. Jill does take advantage of this beautiful landscape and enjoys running, biking, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and, of course, hitting the slopes with the family.

Jake and Leland are both aspiring to be competitive freestyle skiiers.  John tries to keep roots in the midwest by converting his boys to Chicago Cubs or Bear fans.  They play in little league, soccer camps, Telluride Academy and make great tour guides for fun in the mountains for families visitng Telluride.
